The Casa Artisans Guide

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about natural wool felt, finding the right fit, caring for your slippers, and choosing a pair to live in.

01

Buying & Everyday Comfort

Are felt slippers worth it?

We believe so. Felted wool has been used for centuries because it is naturally warm, highly breathable, and remarkably durable underfoot.

Unlike synthetic materials, wool actively regulates temperature and wicks away internal moisture, making it comfortable for year-round wear without overheating.

Are felt slippers warm enough for winter?

Yes. Dense wool felt traps tiny pockets of air within its fibres, creating deep natural insulation while staying breathable underfoot.

This makes wool felt ideal for keeping feet cozy during cold winter months without causing feet to sweat or overheat.

Can I wear felt slippers all year round?

Absolutely. Wool is naturally temperature-regulating. It insulates against winter cold while remaining airy and dry during warmer seasons.

02

Sizing & Fit

Do felt slippers stretch over time?

Felted wool has natural give and will gradually soften and mold to the unique contours of your foot as you wear them.

We recommend choosing a size that feels comfortably secure when brand new.

Should I size up or down?

Our wool felt slippers fit true to standard EU sizing. If you fall between sizes, we generally recommend checking our centimetre measuring guide on the specific product listing.

Are Casa Artisans slippers suitable for wide feet?

Yes. Our felted slippers feature an anatomical toe box that allows toes to sit naturally without being tightly squeezed.

03

Caring for Your Slippers

How do I wash and clean my slippers?

Thanks to the natural self-cleaning properties of organic wool and alpaca skin, your slippers rarely need washing—often just once a year or as needed.

When a full refresh is required, you can easily clean them by hand washing gently in cool water or by placing them on a cold delicate machine cycle using eco-friendly wool detergent. Air dry naturally at room temperature.

What should I do if my slippers get wet?

Gently dab away excess moisture with a dry towel and allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct radiators or heat sources.

Do wool slippers smell over time?

Wool is naturally resistant to odor and bacteria due to its lanolin content and moisture-wicking properties. Allowing them to air out between wears keeps them naturally fresh.

Natural materials behave differently.

Wool is a living fibre that softens, molds, and develops individual character over time. Small textural variations are a natural mark of authentic, small-batch handcrafting.

04
